Universal Light Expo

It was good to see so many familiar faces last weekend at the 21st annual Universal Light Expo held in Columbus, Ohio  – especially those of you from so far away.  Thanks for stopping by the Journeys of Wisdom booth to catch up with us.

Heart of Light was this year's theme with over 330 booths and 130 lectures available.  Most people who attended used the lectures and classes for self-reflection and ascension of their spirituality.

I was asked to address the expo as a featured speaker, and chose the topic “Embracing the Wisdom of the Heart.”  For anyone unable to attend the show, I’ve summarized the highlights here for you.

Working with clients day-to-day, I see first-hand the importance of learning to trust thinking with our hearts and feeling with our heads.

Everything processed by the ego is distorted to fit what the ego needs it to be.  This is why true compassion can only be experienced through the heart.  The ego participates in an experience out of sympathy, while the heart embraces the same event with forgiveness of self and empathy for all involved.

I also addressed the group on the concept, “The Three Stages of Self Growth.”  Growing self requires conscious attunement at each phase, from the selfish stage where we all begin, through the next step of evolving the self, and on toward the selfless state, the final level. 

Where we are in terms of self growth is reflected in our relationships.  At the selfish stage, our relationships are more like attachments.  As we discover more about ourselves in the self phase, our relationships reflect detachment.  When we ascend to selfless, we lose our neediness and our relationships show this in how we are unattached.
